Introduction

Welcome to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory's (ITL's) Information Access Division (IAD) face recognition website. This website provides information on IAD face recognition projects.

1. The Face Recognition Grand Challenge (FRGC) project was conducted and managed by Dr. P. Jonathon Phillips. The participation period has now ended, however, FRGC data is still available to face recognition researchers. For more information on this project, please click on the FRGC Overview link to your left.

2. Three Face Recognition Vendor Test projects have been conducted over the last six years. Jonathon Phillips managed the FRVT 2002 and the FRVT 2006 projects, as well as the three preceding FERET face recognition technology development and evaluation projects. The FRVT 2006 is latest in that series of evaluations and the report can be downloaded below. For more information on these projects, click on the FRVT Overview link to your left.
